Yoga and stress-busting hormone

A new Canadian study has demonstrated that yoga practice can  reduce the physical and psychological symptoms of chronic pain in women with fibromyalgia.

This is the first study to investigated whether yoga can have a beneficial effect on levels of the stress hormone cortisol levels in women with fibromyalgia. The condition is characterized by chronic pain and fatigue; common symptoms include muscle stiffness, sleep disturbances, gastrointestinal discomfort, anxiety and depression, but no one yet knows what causes the condition or how much of its effects are psychosomatic rather than physical.
